1. Rice – Recommend for diarrhoea. Rice gruel is best for infants suffering from diarrhoea, as it is ideal fluid for oral dehydration. Because of its very low protein and alkalizing effect it is very useful for gout or arthritis.

2. Barely – It is beneficial in cases of gastritis, dyspepsia, peptic ulcers and colitis. Barley fiber prevents constipation and it’s complications, e. g. Colon cancer.

3. Corn – It is good source of soluble and insoluble fiber. It is recommended for intestinal disorder, e. g. dyspepsia, chronic colitis, irritable bowel, celiac disease, chronic renal disease. It also reduces the cholesterol because of bran which is present in sweet corn.

4. Wheat – The king of gains; wheat starch is very easily digested. Whole wheat contains bran so it has laxative effects and prevents constipation. Wheat’s composition is the most complete and balanced diet. lts bran is helpful to reduce the risk of diverticulitis, colon cancer, brest cancer and coronary artery disease. Wheat germs /sprouts are eaten for treatment of many diseases in Ayurvedic system.

5. Oats – Oats provide glucose, fatty acid, phosphorus and vitamin B1 which are very important for neuron function. So it is recommended for nervous system complaints, i.e. gastritis, gastroduodenal ulcers and diverticulosis. Oats contain very little gliadin and are well – tolerated by those suffering from celiac disease (intolerance to gliadin) . They are also well – tolerated by the diabetics in the from of whole grain flakes including bran. They lower the cholesterol level. Regular consumption of oats at least once a day in any form provides very good result as a treatment and prevention of hypertension and arteriosclerosis.

6. RYE : It provides flexibility to the arteries and improve circulation so it prevents coronary heart disease and arteriosclerosis. =It has rich cellulose fiber content which prevents constipation. It is highly recommended for hypertension and patients with colon cancer.
